dc.description.abstractThe education sector in Kenya is currently characterized by a dynamic and highly competitive operational structure, as a result of the proliferation of universities. Revenue generation has been reported to be low as a result of the decrease in private student sponsorship. Inefficiencies have resulted, and university staff have been expressing dissatisfaction with their compensation. The purpose of the study was to establish the influence of organizational resources on performance of Public Universities in Western Region, Kenya. Specifically to determine the influence of financial resources, human resources, technological resources and intellectual property on performance of Public Universities in Western Region, Kenya and to determine the moderating influence of organization culture on the relationship between organizational resources and performance of Public Universities in Western Region, Kenya. The study adopted descriptive and correlational research design. Targeted university departments in-charge of resources thus finance, procurement, Internal auditors, accountants, human resource and ICT giving 160 respondents of which sample size was 114 respondents. Stratified and simple random sampling technique was used. Closed ended questionnaires were adopted. Pilot study was conducted in University of Eldoret. The researcher attained at 0.7 threshold. Validity was measured using content and construct validity. Both descriptive and inferential were used. Organizational resources were of significant effect on performance of Public Universities thus Financial resources (B=0.371, p=0.006). Human resources (B=0.789, p= 0.000). Technological resources (B=0.835, p= 0.000) and intellectual property (B=1.459, p=0.000). Organization culture had a significant moderating effect. The study recommends timely and adequate disbursement of funds from the government. Furthermore accessibility of funds should be sought by universities at all costs to enable performance in respective universities. The study recommends that public universities should always employ competent staff for effective productivity. Universities should advocate for innovations and even encourage research and development initiatives. The study recommends provision of adequate information technology gadgets for use. Universities should can invest in publications. The university can further initiate new innovative processes copyright trends. The study advocates that public universities should have a mission culture based on resources maximization that would see universities input increased. The study is expected to help the government, university management, students and scholars at large in decision making and policy formulation.en_US
